Earl Bales Park

place-2 4169 Bathurst Street | Bathurst St + Sheppard Ave

Earl Bales Park is located in North York on the East side of Bathurst Street between Sheppard Avenue and Hwy 401. The dogs off-leash area can be accessed from any of the parking lots. If you enter off Bathurst Street, enjoy the walk and take the trail between the amphitheater and park office that leads West down the hill. Alternatively, a small parking lot closer to the dog park can be accessed from Sheppard Avenue (Eastbound lanes only) and will save a walk up/down a steep hill.

The Earl Bales Park Dog-Park/Off-leash area is a large bow-tie shaped area located near the base of the Earl Bales park ski hill. It is completely fenced, wire-mesh covers the gaps between large wooden posts and rails. The dog park has two double-gated entrances so that dogs can be leashed an unleashed in a controlled space. The ground cover is primarily grass, there are multiple benches but no water source.

What to Expect

The scenery within the park valley is some of the best in Toronto and is a pleasure to view during all seasons. The fenced has been weaved between several groups of trees to preserve the parks natural beauty. This park is frequented by dog walkers, expect at least 3-5 dogs to be present at all times.

What’s Not to Like

  1. While the bow-tie shape nicely separates the dog park into two areas, there is no physical barrier. It is possible to lose site of your pet if it wanders to the opposite side or behind one of the many curves in the fence.
  2. The large hill leading to the park from the Bathurst Street entrance can be slippery when conditions are wet or snowy.
