Canadian Kennel Club Registered Pug and Shetland Sheepdog Breeders
Founded in 1996, Farrahwood Registered Kennel breeds Pugs and Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties). Located just West of Waterloo, Farrahwood is owned and operated by Glenda Rutherford. A registered nurse in a trauma intensive care unit for 16 years she is now retired and devotes herself full-time to her kennel and breeding program.
Glenda began her breeding program with Labrador Retrievers. Impressed by their excellent physical attributes and very sound nature. The Labrador is gentle and very adaptable, eager to please and non aggressive. In 2000 she started breeding Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties) after falling in love with the breed when a Sheltie became a family pet and show dog for Jaclyn, her young daugter. Shetland Sheepdogs are loyal, affectionate and intelligent. Their small size makes them very adaptable to most any home.
In 2004, Glenda stopped breeding Labradors and although continuing to breed Shelties along with her sister Carolyn, has now begun a breeding program that includes Pugs, after falling in love with their loving, comical nature. All of their Shelties and Pugs are family pets.
